Inside the Earth (2006)

This image, commissioned for the children's book Insiders: Volcanoes and Earthquakes, shows the inside of our planet. The outermost layer is the crust; the outer mantle (dark orange) in beneath that, then the lower mantle (light orange); finally there is the core, with a liquid outer component (yellow) and a solid inner one (white).
