About "Exooplanet System L 98-59"
This illustration, created for academics at the Universities of Groningen, Oxford and Cambridge, shows the planetary system around the red dwarf star dubbed L 98-59, situated 34 light-years from Earth in the constellation Volans. Five planets are currently known, the first three of which — shown here — were discovered by the TESS spacecraft. All are low mass, comparable to the Earth, and likely rocky. The third planet, L 98-59d, shown in cross-section, has an atmosphere rich in sulphur. It likely possesses a 'magma-ocean', which is a thick, hot mantle of molten rock.Details
